Villa Serbelloni

The villa occupies the whole promontory above the village. The residence rises in the place where the tradition says that Plinio Il Giovane lived. During the Middle Ages the area was occupied by a castle, upon which in the XV century a country house was built: it belonged to the commendator of the abbey of Piona. The house was passed in 1485 to the Stanga who transformed it in villa; the Sfrondati restructured and amplified it during the XVII century and at the end of the following century, it became a Serbelloni property. Doomed to become a hotel in 1870, it appears a quite wide, but simple construction, formed inside by a series of stairs with vaulted or coffered ceilings decorated in the XVII- XVIII centuries ways.
The wide park it is the only part of the complex which is open to the public. The park alternates features of wood with secular trees, paths, glades and plantations; esotic trees between flowers cultivation expecially rose-gardens.
