Francis the Second, Emperor of Austria, and his brother Leopold, Grand Duke of Tuscany, were the first worthy guests attracted to the lake also by the fame of a certain herbalist. On 17th June 1785, they came to Pescallum to know more about what pharmacology had already spread in their country. While listening carefully under the tender vine leaves to the learned explanations of Mr Nicola Maranesi, the wise chemist, a violent storm broke and lasted for so long that the Emperor and his brother had to accept the unexpected and frugal hospitality they were offered.
Rooms
Just the sound of water, lapping the sandy banks, gets through the perfect peace of the wide rooms on the upper floors, all facing the lake and Villa Serbelloni's gardens on the promontory. Besides private services, you'll find very well furnished rooms with 19th and 20th century handcrafted pieces creating an unique and romantic atmosphere that will make you completely enjoy a charming stay on the lake
Restaurants
In summer, the panoramic terrace, sunny but cool, perfect for parties, can receive till 90 people. In the charming restaurant rooms with veranda or under the vine leaves, you can taste the most typical cookery, its fresh fish dishes and local produces such as the oil of Tremezzo, cheeses and mushrooms of Alps and Pre-Alps, vegetables and "polenta". All traditional recipes the family has wisely kept and suggests with great pleasure for all guests.
